The PulmoLife COPD Screening and Lung Age Meter provides a straightforward and efficient method for evaluating adult smokers for COPD symptoms, making it ideal for general practitioners in clinics or during home visits.

FEV1 and FEV1 % Predicted:
Forced Expiratory Volume in the First Second of Expiration. FEV1 is widely recognized as an effective diagnostic measure for early COPD detection. By comparing results to predicted values and using the patient's FEV1 as a percentage of these values (FEV1 % predicted), the presence and severity of COPD can be assessed.
‘Lung Age’:
Beyond comparing patient FEV1 results with standard reference values, the ‘Lung Age’ estimation can effectively demonstrate to smokers the impact of smoking on their lungs in an understandable manner. This estimation is derived from the patient's FEV1 results and predicted values. For instance, a 40-year-old male smoker, 5’9" (1.75m) tall, with an FEV1 of 3.4L, would have an estimated ‘Lung Age’ of 52 years, as this FEV1 is equivalent to 100% of the expected value for a 52-year-old.
