Review:
"We have tried various approaches and conclude that using the Hyfrecator to sear a perforation through the scrotal skin overlying the vas, (it being secured in place by the ring forceps), is the best method, resulting in a procedure which, to the great relief of the recipient, is virtually bloodless. Once the vas has been delivered through the scrotal skin using the surgical haemostat it can be efficiently dealt with by the Hyfrecator which oagulates/vapourises a 2-3cm length. This is then transected, and the ends returned to the scrotal sack. Finally, the tiny skin opening can be pinched shut & sealed with Opsite. The look of amazement on the faces of the men & their partners when the procedure is over is very gratifying !
I have no hesitation in recommending the Hyfrecator especially as it is so useful for so many other minor surgical procedures in general practice, its versatility making it now an indispensable item in our treatment room.
In my own GP surgery in Colchester (Essex), my colleagues & I perform between 6 & 12 vasectomies a week. We are also a training centre, certifying suitable doctors to provide NSV services on satisfactory completion of the training programme. "
