GLYCOLON: Rapid and Adaptable
GLYCOLON® is crafted from a blend of polyglycolic acid and caprolactone. It breaks down into CO2 and H2O through water absorption in tissues, with an absorption period (50% reduction in tensile strength) of roughly 7-9 days.
GLYCOLON® is a monofilament suture material, featuring a slower degradation rate compared to PGA, thanks to the carefully chosen balance of polyglycolic acid and caprolactone.
Water absorption from the body facilitates the gentle breakdown of the suture material via polymer hydrolysis.
The suture's exceptionally smooth surface supports extended suture techniques with minimal tissue trauma and ensures seamless passage through tissues. Its remarkable knot security and high tensile strength offer surprising reliability and immediate user confidence.
The monofilament design minimizes capillary action.
The outstanding tensile strength mentioned above allows for minimal material usage, while the suture's surface properties enable a smooth, low-resistance passage through tissues, preserving tissue integrity as much as possible.
