Fuel Cell Precision
The Excel is equipped with a 64mm² version of the same 200mm² Fuel Cell sensor used in various UK, US & European Police Breathalyzers and our AlcoSense Ultra. While many brands claim to have "Police Sensors" due to using a fuel cell sensor, not all fuel cells are identical. The Excel’s sensor is the same as the law enforcement version, just smaller, providing unmatched accuracy at this price level.
Breath Volume Detection with Temperature Adjustment
The most precise method to measure breath alcohol is by analyzing deep lung air, requiring the user to exhale 1 liter of air before a reading is taken. If the reading is taken prematurely, the breathalyzer may provide low or inconsistent results. Most competitors at this price point use a timer to estimate when 1 liter has passed, but users blow at different pressures, causing the actual volume at measurement to vary significantly, leading to incorrect timing and inaccurate readings.
The AlcoSense Excel detects the volume of breath exhaled during the test and takes a reading when 1 liter of air has been exhaled, ensuring the most accurate and consistent sample is always taken. To enhance accuracy further, readings are adjusted according to temperature – ensuring optimal accuracy regardless of weather conditions.
Preventing Under-Reading
Every breathalyzer has an accuracy tolerance of +/- X.XX of the reading – the smaller the number, the more accurate the breathalyzer claims to be, but this means the reading could be higher or lower than the true reading by this amount. The AlcoSense Excel has advanced software to prevent under-reading – instead of having a tolerance of +/-0.10‰BAC, the AlcoSense Excel’s tolerance is +0.15‰BAC, -0.00‰BAC. This means the Excel will read slightly on the safe side, not too
