GLYCOLON: Rapid and Versatile
GLYCOLON® is crafted from a blend of polyglycolic acid and caprolactone. It is broken down into CO2 and H2O through water absorption in tissues, with an absorption period (50% reduction in tensile strength) of about 7-9 days.
GLYCOLON® is a monofilament suture material, featuring a slower degradation rate compared to PGA, achieved by the carefully chosen ratio of polyglycolic acid to caprolactone.
Water absorption from the body facilitates the tissue-friendly breakdown of the suture material via polymer hydrolysis.
The suture's exceptionally smooth surface enables extended suture techniques with minimal tissue trauma and excellent tissue passage. Its remarkable knot security and high tensile strength offer surprising reliability and immediate user confidence.
The monofilament structure of the suture minimizes capillary action.
The outstanding tensile strength mentioned above necessitates minimal material usage, while the suture's surface properties ensure a smooth, low-resistance passage through tissues, preserving tissue integrity as much as possible.
