Addressing Surgical Site Infections (SSIs) and Healthcare-Associated Infections (HCAIs) requires a strategic approach both before and after surgery by medical professionals and patients.
Hibiwash® serves as a reliable solution for infection prevention, enhancing skin health, and optimizing time efficiency prior to surgical procedures. It features 4% Chlorhexidine Gluconate, known for its extensive antimicrobial properties, and has been a staple in hospital settings for many years.
Consistent use of Hibiwash can lower the likelihood of SSIs in 11 out of 100 patients within 30 days post-surgery. Additionally, it has been proven to reduce the risk of hospital-related S. aureus infections by up to 60% when paired with a nasal antibiotic.
Hibiwash does not penetrate the skin but adheres to it, creating a protective barrier that eliminates microorganisms and maintains its effectiveness long after application. Unlike povidone iodine, Hibiwash remains active in the presence of bodily fluids.
Hibiwash has been updated to be more environmentally friendly, utilizing fewer resources and energy during production. The absence of color, fragrance, and soya oil minimizes the risk of skin irritation or allergic reactions, potentially increasing user compliance. It also includes emollients, ensuring it remains gentle on the skin even with regular use.
