The In-Check DIAL G16 assists healthcare providers in guiding patients on proper inhaler usage. It assesses peak inspiratory flow rate and can mimic the resistance features of a patient's specific inhaler when set correctly. This allows patients to be trained to inhale at a flow rate optimal for their DPI or pMDI.

The updated In-Check DIAL now categorizes inhalers based on their internal airflow resistance to include new devices. There are six resistance categories, five for dry powder inhalers (DPIs) and one for pressurized metered dose inhalers (pMDIs). A guide to determine the resistance category for each inhaler is available on the In-Check DIAL and in the accompanying guide. The device can still measure the specific flow rate of an inhaler using a particular restrictive adapter, which is now included in the package.

  • Categorizes inhalers by internal airflow resistance to include new devices
  • Calibrated individually for precision
  • Easy to clean with simple washing
  • Facilitates training for DPI or pMDI inhaler techniques
  • Enables patients to learn the correct inhalation flow rate
  • Allows for quick inhaler training sessions
  • Cost-effective, straightforward, and efficient method for inhaler technique training

  • Accuracy: ±10% or 10 L/min
  • Repeatability: 5 L/min

Clinical efficacy

The In-Check DIAL can be adjusted to match the resistance of any inhaler by referencing the chart and selecting the correct resistance setting. The patient's inspiratory flow rate is indicated by the pointer when they inhale.

The goal is to achieve flow rates within the green band, which signifies clinically effective flows. The arrows within the bands suggest that a stronger flow is generally preferred for DPIs, while a gentler approach is better for pMDIs. Once patients master the correct flow rate, they can apply it to their inhaler.
