The HCG Pregnancy Test Strip employs a blend of antibodies, including a monoclonal HCG antibody, to specifically identify HCG levels. The test is performed by dipping the strip into a urine sample and watching for the development of red lines. The sample moves through capillary action along the membrane to interact with the colored conjugate. Positive samples will react with the antibody-HCG-colored conjugate, forming a red line in the test line area of the membrane.
The lack of a red line indicates a negative outcome. A red line will always appear in the control line area if the test is executed correctly, serving as a procedural control.
The HCG Pregnancy Test Strip is included, but a timer and collection container are not provided.
Test Procedure:
Use a fresh urine sample; no special pre-treatment is needed. Collect samples in a clean, dry glass or plastic container. Allow both the test and sample to reach room temperature before testing.
- To start the test, open the sealed pouch by tearing along the notch. Remove the test strip and use it promptly.
- Dip the strip vertically into the urine sample with the arrow pointing towards the urine for at least 10 seconds. Do not dip past the "MAX" line.
- Remove the strip and place it flat on a clean, dry, non-absorbent surface. Wait for red bands to appear. Read the test within 5 minutes. Do not interpret results after 5 minutes.
Results:
Negative - Only one red line appears in the control area. No visible band in the test area.
Positive - Two distinct red lines appear in both the control and test areas. The intensity of the test bands may vary due to different HCG hormone levels at various pregnancy stages.
Invalid - No line appears in the control zone "C". If the result is invalid, discard the test and repeat with a new strip.
