Adhering to current safe passing standards, the scalpel features a strengthened temporary lock in the forward position, ensuring the blade remains extended even when encountering hard surfaces or bone. In the retracted state, the slider mechanism includes a notch that securely holds the blade. A permanent lock at the back of the scalpel requires deliberate force to engage the slider, ensuring the contaminated blade stays retracted when disposed of in a sharps container after use.
The sliders are color-coded with a high-visibility red handle for easy identification of blade shape.
