Visi is a streamlined patient contact system designed for sleep screening, emphasizing simplicity, cost-effectiveness, and user-friendliness. It has become the UK's preferred system, with over 170 installations since 1993.

Key factors in evaluating Obstructive Sleep Apnoea Syndrome (OSAS) for CPAP therapy or surgical consideration include sleep fragmentation and increased upper airway resistance.

The Visi system employs audio/video and Masimo oximetry to assess sleep disturbances: body movement and heart rate variations, upper airway resistance: oxygen saturation, and snoring/environmental sounds measured in decibels, offering a thorough evaluation of sleep-disordered breathing and disrupted sleep.

Visi integrates these signals with ECG (EKG) to derive additional sleep disturbance metrics: ECG waveform and R-R interval, Pulse Transit Time, and the Pulsatile Index (variability in the plethysmograph signal size following arousal).

Thermistry measures oral/nasal airflow, while two respiratory effort channels use inductance. Body position and movement, pressure from a standard CPAP machine or mask, two leg channels, and floating/grounded inputs are also supported.

The headbox is battery-operated and wirelessly connects to the computer. It can also operate without video.

Data is stored and displayed on a Windows computer, with audio/video recordings and picture-in-picture supporting the traces on the display, ensuring efficient storage and viewing of the subject.
